Friday Plant Happy Hour – Oh my sweet Georgia Blue, I’ve got my eye on you

Found myself pontificating once again about the great virtues of miss Georgia Blue Speedwell (Veronica peduncularis ‘Georgia Blue’) and her deliciously bronzy tones in winter and foliage spread that keeps weeds suppressed. She’s this week’s #FridayPlantHappyHour sip.

Is this plant easy? Heck, oh, my yes. Reliable? Like your best friend is. Rugged? Yep. Deer resistant? You betcha.

I love that this plant is easily whack-off-able with a mightly (ladies’) shovel edge, divided and transplanted to another part of the garden. Just makes me feel thrifty and swifty like Tay-tay. The neighborhood raccoon loves laying in it, maybe because of the softness of the entire plant? Or is it, like all me, entranced by *that* blue-blue flower?

In the evening’s light, the blue almost has an iridescence to it. Magical, my friend, magical.

Here’s the #‎healinggarden‬ boost – the Beauty and the Benefit:

– Promotes tranquility with soothing color, reminiscent of water (helpful in these days of conservation)

– Invites wildlife & your stewardship by attracting butterflies, birds & bees (which you can help save here)

– Adds seasonal variety with its evergreen nature & long (and sometimes second season repeating!) bloom

And miss Georgia Blue, I’d wear you as a tutu.
